£2,(!00-A-YE!AR PILOTS. TWO-DAY AIR SERVICE ACROSS AMERICA. NEW YORK, April 20. Col. Lindbergh, the Transatlantic airman, gave his views yesterday on the new United States transconti- | ncntal air service that will begin on I July 1. This will be a two-dav service by train and aeroplane from New t ork to Los Angeles. The present train journey takes four days. Col. Lindbergh is technical adviser to the company operating the new service. He said: The company is only waiting for the reconstruction of the air ports along the route to begin the service. Ten three-engined machines will he used, and the pilots chosen must have had 1090 hours’ flying experience which is 800 hours more than the Department of Commerce demands before giving any pilot a “fully qualified” Hying licence. Col. Lindbergh declined to give their salaries, hub revealed that many air mail pilots, especially those doing night flying earned £2,000 a year.
