HA AVER A, June 7
A verdict of accidental death was returned at the inquest this afternoon on Ralph Russell, a single man, age 24, whose body with a bullet wound in the forehead, was found •..outside his farm homestead at 'Mokoi a on the afternoon of May 29th. A discharged twentv-twg bore rifle was lying close to the body. * The deceased owned the farm property on which he lived alone. The evidence was that he was in a sound financial position, and had no motive for suicide.
One witness advanced the theory that deceased may have intended shooting prowling cats or birds, and fallen, with the resultant discharge of the rifle.
The Acting-Coroner, Mr R. S. Sage, discounted this theory owing to the location of the wound in the forehead"; but the jury returned a verdict as indicated. Counsel for deceased’s family- expressed appreciation of the efficient and courteous conduct of the inquiries by the police.
