The Auckland Racing Club’s winter meeting opened at Ellerslie to-day, there being a large attendance. The track was a little heavy.. The totnlisator receipts for the day were £09,103, compared with £74,461} for the corresponding day of last year, a decrease of £5,358:}. Results:— Jervois Handicap.—First Division : (7) Taamariri 1, (3) Arikitoa 2, (0) Roman Pearl 3. Won by one and a half lengths; two and a-half lengths. Time 1.44.
Greenlane Steeplechase.—(4)’ Ivauri Park 1, King Guard 2, (5) Vexatious 3. Won by a neck; witli eight lengths. Time 5.2.
Jervois Handicap.—Second Division. —(3) Standfast 1, (6) Te Money 2, (2) Indolent 3. Won by three lengths; with two and a-half lengths. Time 1.44 1-5 secs.
Penrose Handicap.—(--) Prince Lu 1, (3) Lady Spalpeen 2, (0) Horomea 3. Won by one length; with seven lengths. Time 3.21 2-5. Great Northern Hurdle Race.—(2) Mister Gamp 1, (3) Roman Abbey .2, (4) K.-lwini 3. Won by six lengths; eight lengths. Time 4.49.
Cornwall Handicap.—(2) Seatoun 1, (3) Paddock 2, (7) High Pitch 3. Won by a neck; two lengths. Time 2.13 2-5. Hunt Club Hurdles. —(1) Odin 1, (5) Taumai 2, (3) Tarrapeen 3. Won by a neck; ten lengths between second and third. Time 3.59.

Dull weather was experienced for the second day of the Auckland Racing Club’s winter meeting at Ellerslie to-day. There was an exceptionally large attendance, the track was again a little heavy, but the racing was of a high order. The tote receipts for the day totalled £89,738, compared with £94,392 for the corresponding day of last year, a decrease of £4634. The decrease for th’e first two days, of this year over the corresponding period of’ last year was £9,992}. Results:— Hunt Club Cup.—(l) Odin 1, (2) Taiunai 2, (3) Pikamai 3. Won by four lengths;,three lengths. Time 5.23.

The Dunedin Jockey Club’s winter meeting opened to-day in beautiful weather. The track provided splendid going. For the second day of the Dunedin Jockey Club’s Winter Meeting the weather was fine and the course in good order, with a large attendance. The tote handled £25,418 for the day compared with £31,651. for the second day last year. The stewards met after the big race and suspended C.
