A DAILY MESSAGE

NATURE IS KIND TO THOSE WHO OBEY

Natuiuc is progressive; evolution is her principle. Nature is kind; obedience is lier command. • She is kind only to those who obey. It is of no use to plead that you do not know her laws. Sins of ignorance are classed by her with all other sins. ' Disobey her laws, and you put yourself outside her plan. The only sin that Nature knows is disobedience, and she punishes that sin severe!v.

The first thing that Nature teaches us is that man is not separate from his fellows, or from the universe—that lie is a. small bub vital part in an infinitely complex and perfect whole. He is a cog m the cosmic machine; and, just as Nature works for the whole, not for the part, so man must be in harmony with the plan. He must serve the whole, though ho has his particular work to do.

If wc are out of rhythm, we do not stop tlie wheels of tlie cosmic machine from revolving; hut we may he broken mi those wheels, for we 'create tragic disharmony (for ourselves until we bring ourselves into line with the cosmic. purpose. Until we do this we are fighting against the whole power of the universe. Get into line, says Nature, obey, obey! Follow the current that knows the way! The first thing we must learn is, which is the current that knows the way. -M. Pit IiSTON STANLEY
