Further evidence of the esteem in which .the late Mr .1. -I. Keane (formerly 'of Blue Spur, and son of Mrs Keane, of Park Street), was held bv all associated with him, especially duiilia the 20 years-when, be- licld the positions of overseer and then engineer, to- tho Cook County Council, was given, on Thursday of liist week -.says a Gisborne paper, when formal application for approval of the erection of a memorial tablet in the council chambers was made by a committee of council employees. The necessary approval was immediately given h.v the council.

This tablet, which is the second memorial to Mr Keane erected h.v past and present employees of the council, the other being a particularly beautiful one. over the grave, was placed in position during the day. It is a handsome brass plate on wooden ’around and hoars too billowing) inscription :
