FEDERAL ACTION

INDUSTRIAL LEGISLATION. (Australian Press Association) CANBERRA, May 29. Air S. Bruce, Federal Prime Aliniser, informed the Premiers’ Conlerence to-day that as the States had declined to grant full industrial powers to the Commonwealth by which overlapping and conflicting awards could be overcome, then the Commonwealth Government would, in due course, take the necessary action to repeal the existing Federal industrial legislation. Air Bruce added that the Federal Government would now also aoolish the Federal Arbitration Court. His announcement was received with general approval by the Premieis whose States will resume the control of their own industrial affairs. A number of tlie Federal industrial unions have received this announcement with mixed feelings, while tlie position of the Federal Arbitration Court- Judges, who will no longer be 'required, has raised an .interesting problem for tbe Commonwealth Government.
