WINTER SHOW
The Kokatalii-Koiterangi Winter Show was brought to a successful close yesterday afternoon, when there was a very large attendance of the genera public, reople travelled from all parts of the district, and there were long lines of motor cars parked all along the highway, which by the way ivas in very good order. There were many visitors from the north, Groymouth be mg well represented, while Westland district had representatives from all pa|-ts. The large hall was filled throughout the afternoon, and parish could he heard on all sides at the quality of the display. Mr Jamieson (President) and the members of the Committee have every reason to be pleased with the success attending their efforts. Not only was the show an outstanding success from every point of view, but it was a splendid advertisement for the resources ami capabilities of the district.
About 4 o’clock yesterday the dis mantling began, and there was a great demand for the prize exhibits, all of which had a very ready sale. The settlers generally have every reason t lie both pleased and proud with the success attending the 1929 show, air 1 on which in particular the choicest of weather prevailed. PRESENTATION OF CUPS. Prior to the conclusion of the Show yesterday the President (Mr W. A. Jamieson) made the presentation of the cups won. doing so lie congratulated the winners on their success in suitable terms. Presentations were then made as follows: — To Mr H. A. Boddington, the Newman Silver Cup, for the most points in the Show, the cup becoming his property, having been Avon on three occasions by the winner, in 1927, 1928, and 1929. To Miss Lorn a Monk, the Morel Cup, which becomes her property, having secured most points in iced cakes, in 1928 and 1929. . To Miss Higgins, Messrs Mark, Wallace and D. Weir, to hold for the year, tne, Wright Silver Cup, presented for competition for the District Bays, Kokatahi district being the first win r nor, 1929. Correction —In the aAvard of -Mr Dowell’s trophy ■ lor most points in girls’ cookery, . Ida Godfrey was the winner, not Margaret Jones, as stated yesterday.
