Referees’ reports were read and received. The Secretary wasfr, instructed to request the Kiunara Club to supply a ball in addition to that supplied by the Union, as time was lost in matches owing to players having to recover the ball from a paddock adjacent to the grounds. The United Club advised that the application by A. Rogers for a transfer to the Star Club was in order, anti consented to same being granted. The New Zealand Rugby Union asked that Rules 17 B and 19, referrin gto wing forwards, be brought under the notice of referees. The" New Zealand Council forwarded advice that the players selected for thetrial match to be held at Wellington on June 3rd. would assemble at Wellington on that date. A protest from the Blaketown Club was ruled out of order.
The protest raised by the United Club against a player named Ryan playing for Excelsiors when he was still a member of the Kokntahi Club, came again before the meeting. Advice was received from the Sub-Union that Ryan was elected a member of the Excelsior Club at its annual meeting.. Mr Ryan stated lie could bring proof that Ryan played for the Kokatahi Club, and had not yet applied for a transfer to Excelsior. He did not for. one moment think that the Sub-Union would try to hide that Ryan had played for the Kokatahi Club. It was resolved that the Sub-union be asked to supply the information as to whether Ryan had at any time played for the Kokatahi Club.
The Buller Rugby Union forwarded suggestions concerning the Buller-’ West Coast Primary School Shield Champonship They asked for a reorganisation of the whole rules with the idea of substituting a schoolboy rep. team from each district in place of ho winning school from each district. This would give the smaller schools a chance of taking parly in the competition for at present a country school cannot put out a fifteen on their own account with any hope of success. The Buller Union stated that they were willing to send a delegate (Mr Salmon) to Reefton to meet in conference with delegates from Hokitika Tnangahua and the West Coast Union district, at as early a date as possible. It was resolved that the matter he left in the hands of the committee, and the Grey delegates be given power to' act.
