BLENHEIM UNEMPLOYED. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.; BLENHEIM, May 27. lion AY. A. V'eitcli, returned from Tvaisoura this evening, whither he had accompanied the Prime Minister. He was accorded a civic reception in ihe presence of a represen .at ire gathering of citizens. Responding, the Minister said lie liked the portfolio of Labour, because it meant dealing w tli human nature. Its problems were human problems. In comparison with otner parts of the world, New Zealand knew no industrial troubles, and he appealed to all classes to co-operate in maintaining conditions of industrial peace. Mr Veitcli received a deputation which staled that 95 unemployed were registered at Blenheim for the past lew days, and requested the Government to expedite public works such as the J3-lo,(KX) deviation scheme on lie Main South Highway between Blenheim and Sodden, and the construction of Ihe South Main Trunk. They desired preference for the local unemployed until the men now out of work had been absorbed. The Miniser underlook to do his utmost in the me iter.
