TIMBER EMBARGO

EXEMPTION WANTED. [My Telegraph, Per Press Association.j NELSON, May 25. The Minister for Education, Hon. H. Atniore, and the Minister for Labour, Hon W. A., ye itch, in lieu of the Premier, received a deputation from fruitgrowers this morning. The first request was for Cue Government to continue the present guarantee of Its a case. Air Amo re said he recognised the necessity of a guarantee. Ihe lequcst would have to go before Cabinet, but he did not think there was the slightest fear that the guarantee would lie with-held.

Mr Veiteh replied to the deputation. and said the decision would rest with the Prime Minister as Minister Finance. Mr Veiteh, however, had i.o fears for the result. The second request concerned the proposed embargo on imported timbet. The Government was asked to exempt timber for fruit cases. Tt was stated that apart from the differences in price suitable timber could not at present In- produced in New Zealand. ~,|,. Atniore promised that the matter would be laid before the Premier.
