CORRESPONDENCE.

FARMERS EXCURSION TRAIN. (To the Editor.) Sir, —Keen disappointment is tell bv a number of NVost Coast fanners who have been unable to purchase tickets for the West Coast and MiuCanterbury farmers excursion to tin Hamilton Show, which leaves the Coast on Tuesday morning next. Some’ three weeks ago the Railway Department notified the \\ est Coast Excoii the of the New Zealand ■ Funnels Union that all available tickets wen sold and that owing to the accommodation at Hamilton being limited ti 33[) for this excursion train no mon tickets were to bo sold. Evidently the Mid-Canterbury people booked u.l at once as -very few West Coast peoph have been able to secure seats loi this xeursion. L am in receipt of tlie following letter from the Secretary of our Executive:— ‘Owing to a large number of farm ers being disappointed through beim. ‘shut out’ of the excursion train t< tho North Island oil 28th inst. th Executive took the matter up w itl the Railway Department and met tie business agent on Saturday last. It has now lioon suggested that, provided sufficient inducement offers, » train comprising West Coast farmers be run to the North island during the month of July. The number roquir ed would be 120, and the cost would be the same as the other excursion approximately £ls, which include*fares and hoard. I would be glad i! von would advise me not later limn June 4tl, the number from your district who would patronise this special „ianv arrangements excursion. As many y have to be made it is essential that you advise me by - June 4th.” Tuesday’s excursion after attending the Show at Hamilton leaves for •Rotorua, then up to Auckland hoi ore turning home. Tt is expected to take about fifteen days, and probably some such arrangement will he made for the excursion in July. J am etc., JOHN MURDOCH Ross, May 24th, 1929.
