ARRANGEMENTS GO AWRY

A quaint contretemps destroyed the versimilitude of an air pageant at V-ftrvVnnes, which was arranged to stimulate interest in aviation, and to which hundreds of thousands of spectators were attracted It was announced, after a realistic display by the aviators, that they would bomb a factory town, which had been specially constructed As a fact, no bombs were used. It was arranged that the aeroplanes were to circle over tlie place at a low altitude when, simultaneously, the town should collapse on hinges amid artificial smoke. The building thus would he available for later performances. Unfortunately, owing to a misunderstanding between the air and grbund s'tafiV, the aeroplanes "wore miles away when the town collapsed, and the display ended in general laughter.
