At a meeting of County electors held at Okuru on the 11th. inst., Messrs John Cron, Clias Eggeling and AY. D. Nolan were appointed the District Advisory Committee to 'the Westland County Council. Mr Nolan was elected Chairman of tin; committee. The meeting convened at Bruce Bay for'the election of a like committee for that district, lapsed owing to the small attendance, and a mooting will now be held on the Ist. prox. to elect a committee.
Mr A. D. Snedden, who has been Inspector of Awards on the AYest Coast for the past three and a-hall years, has resigned from the Labour Department, in order to take a position on the instructional staff of the Auckland Technical College. He has been in the service of the Labour Department for nine and a-lialf years, having I een stationed at Hamilton and Auckland before coming to Greymonth. H has been succeeded on tbe AYest Coasl by Air F. G. Davies, uf Palmerston North. Mr and Mrs Snedden will leave for Auckland about June 1.
The Hon. T. K. Sidey, who lias been for forty-five years Sunday school teacher and superintendent of the Caversham Presbyterian Church, was met by the congregation and presented with a bound album containing an illuminated address and photographs of the office-bearers and staff ol the Sunday school. Mr Sidey, in his reply, said that during recent months he had to make various severances, and bis cessation of active work in the Sunday school was the hardest of all. Mr .J. W. Hannan was unanimously elected Chairman of the Grey Hospital Board at last night’s meeting. Miss C. G. Lord was appointed Matron of the Grey River Hospital. Matron Lloyd received her training at the Grev River Hospital under Dr Morice and Matron Kitto. She left Greymouth in 1916, after completing her- training. Miss Lord relieved at Ashburton, and was then appointed Matron of the Mokianga Hospital, and later accepted a similar appointment at Waihi. Three other applications 'for the position were received.
