The outlook is becoming alarming. The town oT Mahmudnyah, fifteen miles south of Baghdad, is submerged, with heavy loss of life. The river' wall has broken at Nasirlyali ,aml at Hindyali, where a vast, area of land has been converted into an inland sea. Breaks are feared between Shaihah and Basra, thus inundating the Imperial Airways and the forces aerodromes at Shaihah.
