CHRISTCHURCH, May 20. “That an investigation he made as to the loss to the Dominion of tho last YVar Office contract for one million pounds weight of meat, the contract having gone to South America, ’ was a remit' approved by the North Canterbury branch of the Sew Zealand Farmers’ Union. The remit will be forwarded to the Dominion conference of the Union. Mr J. D. Hall in moving the remit said that it was unsatisfactory when thev saw n deal like this if tliev wore to benefit from Home consumption of Dominion produce. “YYliat is the (...vn-e of the price being so high? lie asked. “Is it because the other meat is inferior 7 Tt is a had thing and gives the Army a bad name, or else gives us a bad name for charging too much for our meat.’’ Mr G. H. Judd seconded the motion. He thought, that the question of quality entered into it. fO'd that, the Army must he content with second rate moat.
