BIG NEWSPAPER COMPANY

MERGER. RESOLUTION CONFIRMED.

CHRISTCHURCH, May 18

The resolution arrived at by a meeting of shareholders in the Lyttelton Times Company, Ltd., on April 2G, •agreeing to the proposal to amalgamate with the Brett Publishing Company, Ltd., Auckland, was duly confirmed at a meeting of the Lyttelton Times Company’s shareholders, which was held in Christchurch yesterday. _, The new company; will he, known as New 'Zealand Newspapers, Ltd., and will have a nominal capital of £1,000,000, of which £582,5C0 will lie allotted to the existing companies—£477,500 to the Brett Publishing Company, Ltd., and £105,000 to the Lyttelton Times Company, Ltd. The Auckland company publishes the “Auckland Star.” ‘
