OPTIMISTIC OUTLOOK

WELLINGTON, May 17
Commenting on recent tours of the North and South Islands, lion. P. A. dc la Perrellc expressed the opinion in an interview that there was striking evidence of. contentment and optimism among the , farming and business section of the community.. The recent statistical figures had exemplified this to an almost superlative degree. All round for many months past, the shoulder has been put to the wheel and production had materially increased, to the value of twelve million in exports over imports lor the financial year just closed. Even the industrial section was more contented, .although ft could not he denied that unemployment was stijl rile in the centres ol population, hut it was not so much in evidence in . the country., districts. 1 In connection with unemployment, ..the Government was-.doing ilq best and ’successfully too, in finding avenues ol Ojvor.k either in assisting local bodies or directly upon Government works. The outlook ; generally, throughout New Zealand was very bright. The .Minister saw no danger of a. land hoom .from cheap money, and said the efforts of they Government- ; ■during tho .five months 'it had' been, in, office had very substantially assisted iq ..the .stability now generally, existent over the whole Dominion. .
