Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follow President, Mr W. Fraser (Hamilton); Vice-Presidents, Messrs Wells (Feilding). and H. A. Jones (Auckland); Executive: Miss M. B. Robertson (Christchurch), Messrs Tuck (Hamilton), Hancock (Palmerston North), McFadyen (Timaru), A. Morris-Jones (Wellington) ; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr James (re-elected) ; Auditor, Miss Minnie Repson; Appeal Board, Messrs R. J. . Thompson and E. W. Martin. , & <lt . WORKSHOPS. AND. LA BORATOR lES. WELLINGTON, May 16. The Committee set up. by the Technical School Teachers’ Conference to discuss problems relating to workshop. practice and laboratory training have put before the Minister of Education their report. They recommend that it is absolutely essential that the workshops should he maintained and well and suitably equipped for the work they have to do. Special refer- ‘ ence is made to farmers’ sons and machinery. It is also stated (that, for the efficient teaching of engineering, it is essential that there should be suitably equipped laboratories for experimental work in applied mechanics, physics and elementary chemistry, strength of materials,-steam and internal combustion engines, electrical enfineenn", motor engineering and by-. ! draiilics.
