The Pope addressing ex-students from tlie College of M.ondragone, whom he received in audience, challenged the Faseisti thesis, expounded by Signor uussoiini, that education was primarily the duty of the state. The Pope said that education lies firstly and above all, with the Church .t and with the parents of the children. Referring to Signor Mussolini’s doctrine that “ we must give youth the sense of power and the virility of conquest” the Pope declared “What would befall if all the States brought up their youths on ideas of conquest!!’ The Pope added that “tlie Church did not intend to forege its education at right.”
