KEN MAYNARD FRIDAY
Do horses think? Some say they, work by repetition and instinct but Ken Maynard, star of “ The Canyon of Adventure ” coming to the Princess Theatre on Friday, says they think and can prove it. Ken has trained Tarzan the wonder horse and should know whereof he speaks. - Ken claims that naturally repetition and praise are main items in training- any animal but when they do things of their own accord it proyes that they have reasoning power of their own. For instance in tne present picture, Tarzan is called upon to do several tricks such as'carrying a note to another party, kneel, pick up a handkerchief and shake hands. These are all stunts that he lias known Jfjor some time, in fact were among the first he learned, but there were several new ones similar to tlie above mentioned and it is not by instinct but reasoning power ‘that he distinguishes the difference. Taffsan, according to Maynard is a real aristocrat "of horsedom. ,He knows what lie. has to do and does ft according to instruction and his belief. He has implicit faith m Ken and the ;f .things lie performs. He seems to sense tlie responsibility that is liik. Another thing all
horses love sugar, and some will beg for it -when ever anyone is near, Thit I not Tarzan. He accepts it if offered but he disdains to beg for anything. Jn “The Canyon ; oif Adventure” both Ken and Tarzan are seen in several new and spectacular stunts and daredevil tricks. It is fast and dynamic and by far the modt pretentious .'picture lie has made to date. The cast-includes Virginia Browne Faire, Eric Mayne and Bill Franey. ............ The usual supports will also be shown on Friday night, including fuither chapters-of the great circus serial, “The Trail :of ; the Tiger.”
