DR. ’ Til ACKER DEPUTY-MAYOR. (By Telegraph—dor Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 13. The new City Council held its first meeting to-night, with a crowded gallery. The strength of parties <>n the new Council is: Citizens’ Association 8, Labour 7, .Independent (Dr Thacker) 1; Labour Mayor, Rev Mr Archer. Dr Thacker was elected Deputy Minor,’ with ii ilie votes, against Mr Andrew.-! of "tlie’ Citizens’ Association,, who secured eight votes.
