MAN POISONED
WITH ACETIC ACID. ißy Telegraph—Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 13. At the inquest on Richard O’Rourke, aged 70, a retired farmer, his landlady gave evidence that the deceased asked her husband for a dose of castor oil. Witness said a bottle was placed on the table, and later Mr O’Rourke heard crying and struggling in the lavatory. Ho was taken to the hospital, and he died next morning. Witness said that she had kept some acetic acid in a castor oil bottle for preserving herrings. The deceased had cvidenly taken the acid by mistake. Witness said, that she , threw the bottle over Grafton Bridge as she was returning from the hospital. The Coroner returned a- verdict that death was due to poisoning by acetic acid the occurrence having been accidental.
