AMUSEMENTS.

' EVERYBODY# PICTURES. MADGE BELLAMY IN “THE PLAY GIRL ” TO-NIGHT. ffr A laughter romance on which metropolitan reviewers have placed the stamp of approval, “ The Play Girl ” is to'be the feature release to the Princess Theatre to-night. This is a Fox . Films production starring the comedienne and popular player, Madge Bellamy, in the title role. The story deals with the life of a little shop girl tired of work and hungry for beautiful . clothes, and amusement. Not an un- • • common failing, and for that reason an ideal theme for ty photodrama. But instead of the usual tragic, sordid picture this theme usually calls forth, Arthur Rosson, the director, has made it a happy romance of youth, starred with laughter. In the opening sequences Miss Beljamy is shown losing her position as a salesgirl because she exercises her ready wit on her choleric employer, something that has led to disaster in real life more than it has in pictures. Out of a job, she meets a man-about-town who invites her to one off his parties, where she meets another man of an entirely different type. Very soon she must make her choice between riding in limousines and taking strolls through the park. She chooses the machine and rides to the verge of disaster from which she is saved by the poor man who at least is able to prove to her, as between luxury and dishonour, and a modest home and a husband there can be but one choice for a girl. Johnny Mack Brown plays the poor man in love with Miss Bellamy, and . Walter McGrail, the, rich one, also in love, but not sufficiently so to want to marry her. A cast of screen favourites support Miss Bellamy in what is said to be one of the most delightful comedy dramas eff the season. A topical and comedy will also be included to-night. Qn- Wednesday Reginald Denny in “ Good Morning, Judge.”
