HOTEL LICENCE

A LAWRENCE APPLICATION. By Telegraph—Press Association;. DUNEDIN, Abiy 11. After about twenty years of noiicousc', an attempt is being made to establish an Hotel at Lawrence again. James Kelleher has advertised his intention of applying for a license for premises to be known as the Railway Hotel. ‘ The application will be dealt with at next meeting of Central Otago Licensing Committee on'June 6th.

After the census of 1926, certain electoral boundaries in the Dominion were altered anil one ot these changes affected the township of Lawrence which now is included in Central Otago, instead of Clutlia electorate. Such alterations, although made immediately after the . census cannot come into force until the term of the existing Parliament expires, so that- the new status of Lawrence dates only from November, 1928. So far as the legal position is concerned there is no reason why a license should not be granted.
