A meeting of the club delegates of the Auckland Rugby TJuion this evening expressed strong opposition to the proposal to play all the matches this year under the old rules, in view ot next year’s tour of the Dominion by the British team. The opinion was expressed that any departure from the amended rules sanctioned by the English Rugby Union would not be in the best interests of Rugby in New .Zealand. the speakers held that the-new, rules hacl brightened the game immeasurably, and had been responsible for evolving a new. style oi Rugby, vastly superior to the old. AUCKLAND, May l \ Auckland Rugby Union to-night de cided to issue a challenge to Wairafapa for the Ranfury Shield. Hie match is to be played on August 10th.
