The opening programme of the Egmont Racing Club’s AVinter Meeting was presented to-day before a good attendance in showery weather, though with sunshine prevailing during the major portion of the programme. The tote handled £27,947;), a decrease of £407) as compared with the first day last year. The Telegraph Hack, was run in two divisions, each being treated as a separate race. Tho Hack! Steeplechase was marred by a number offimishaps, only six olf the fourteen- 'starters completing the journey. Falls or retirement accounted for the remainder, but no serious injuries were sustained.
