SYDNEY SHOOTING
MAN SHOT. ! (Australian Press Association). SYDNEY, May 8. Philip Jeffs, aged 32, who a few hours earlier had been released on bail in connection with the Darlinghurst brawl, in which another man was shot, was (found this morning huddled on the footpath near his home,?* shot in the chest and stomach. He was sent to the hospital ia a precarious con* dition. He was conscious when picked up, but refused to give information regarding the shooting. ' SYDNEY, May 9. In -regard to the shooting of Philip Jeffs, the detectives’ belief hinges upon the fieree r underworld brawl at Dar--1 linghurst, and they suspect traffic in is the evil responsible. Jeffs refused to- have a dying deposit!- n taken. Doctors hold no hope of his recovery. Every hour the injured _maii’s condition is growing more critical. 1 '
