GOOD WINTER. SUPPLY. WELLINGTON, May G. The generator for which the Government lias just accepted a tender is of the same type as the three already constructed for the Arapuni hydro-electric scheme. One is about to operate and two others are being erected. They are all of 18,000 K.V.A. capacity. Provision lias been made in the headworks for eight similar generators. Four tunnels to the power station arc londj, and the concrete work for the remaining four at the spillway is completed, though the sluice gates are not fitted. It is anticipated that, with the generating newer available from Arapuni this winter, supplemented with the Auckland steam plant, there will bo no power shortage in that electrical distribution area. One generator of 20,000 K.V.A. is working at Waikairemoann, and a second of similar capacity will be running by the end of May.
