PROPOSED MEMORIAL

When questioned yesterday regarding the proposed memorial at Alascot, the commanders of the Southern Cross disclosed that they already had offered to establish at their own expense, an aerodrome and water supply tank at the site where tlie Kookaburra, was (found.
It was also ascertained that tlie .Minister had declined this offer, but Smith and Uim were still negotiating with him to effect at their expense, impi-ov■i-iuents and extension to Masco! as a permanent memorial to Anderson and Hitchcock.
