An inquest on Mackay merely dis dosed that he was killed by a bullet in the abdomen. The bullet Was not traced. The British Embassy has requested a full and impartial inquiry into the cause of liis .death. It is officially explained that Mackay entered the danger zone despite police warnings, and that ho did so- at his own risk. Herr Stresemann lias sent a message of sympathy to the relatives. A JTAXI-P RIVER’S STATEMENT. (Received this day at 11.25. a.m.) BERLIN, May 0. It now appears that McKay was shot by the police for not the slightest reason. A. taxi driver says he saw the police shooting down Hermiuislrasse at regular intervals, hut nolody was therein. He added: “I saw a man walking alone, stagger ajul fall. He lay for twenty minutes before the police troubled to pick him up and send him to a dressing station. 1 discovered from photographs that the man was McKay.” The papers emphasise the fact that onjyone policeman was wounded in the hand, although it was supposed that they were heavily fired on. This leads people to wonder whether any shots were fired throughout the riot, except by the police.
