The monthly meeting of the Westland Acclimatisation Society takes place to-night at 7.30 o’clock. In view of another attraction this evening, punctual attendance of members will be appreciated. A meeting of the Westland Competitions Society will he held at the County Chambers to-morrow afternoon at 4.30 o’clock to adopt the syllabus for the competitions to he held this year, and to select a judge for the dancing section. At the meeting of the Westland County Council yesterday, the clerk in-1 timated that authority had been received tor an additional grant off €1230 for Little Wanganui river protection. The grant was a free one without au\ subsidy being required from the settlers or Council. The southern members expressed their thanks and satislaction at tin' pleasing announcement. Make the home a merry place this winter. Dancing, singing, and music are yours with an H..M.V. gramophone. Call in and inspect them at Y’arrall’s Music Depot, Revcll Street. —Advt.
