ALL SAINTS’ CHURCH

The annual meeting of parishioners j of AM Saints was held on Friday night | in the Social Hall. There was a fair attendance which was presided over by the Vicar, the Rev. Nelson Wright. The balance sheet showed receipts for the year had increased by nearly £2OO over the previous year, besides about £75 received towards the new hall. The total receipts for the year amounted to close on £IOOO. The balance sheet was duly adopted as was also the Vicar’s report, in which lie expressed hearty thanks to all church workers, especially mentioning the work of Messrs J. B. Ward and H. Hansford (lay readers) for their help in visiting and Sunday School work; to the Churchwardens and Vestry, and the ladies who cared for the brass and flowers. The Hon. H. L. Michel, in the course of a vote of thanks to the Vicar and Mrs Wright, referred to the splencnd work done by them since coming to Hokitnca. The Hon. H. L. Michel was appointed Vicar’s Warden, and Mr A. Keller elected People’s Warden. Mr J. BWard was re-elected secretary and Mr J. Jarman as Treasurer. Mr Leslie was appointed auditor. The former Vestry was re-elected, vis., Messrs W. I). Mackay, J. Peake, C. Campbell, H. W. R. Sweney, E. Thorn, M. Hansford, C. J. King, and W. E. Richards, together with the officers. Mr Keller asked the sanction of the parishioners to proceed with the work of completing the hall hv why of having dressing rooms erected,, the building extended another 12 feet tor the erection of a stage and enlarging the kitchen. The ladies of the congregation provided supper and a programme consisting of a recitation by -Mrs Wright, and solos hy Mr and Mrs Arnold Perry, and Miss.Sherrill' was much enjoyed.
