MOTOR DISASTER

COACH CATCHES FIRE

LONDON, April 28

Four were burned to death and fitteen seriously injured when a motor coach travelling to Reading irom London a fired and overturned near Maidenhead at one o’clock at night. The bodies were so charred it was impossible to determine whether they were men or women. The condition of most of the injured is believed to he critical. A loud explosion heralded the disaster, flames mounting twenty leet and being visible for two miles, burst from the forepart of the coach, while travelling at a fair speed and spread with astonishing rapidity.

The trapped passengers broke the windows and tore the hood. A terrific liaet drove hack motorists attempting to assist them to escape. Scarcely any emerged uninjured.

A FIFTH VICTIM. LONDON. April 28

A fifth victim of the motor coach tragedy, a woman, succumbed from injuries. The survivors pay a tribute to the heroism of the driver. Despite injuries lie dragged out several before rushing to the telephone for an ambulance. Stories of self-sacrifice include a woman lying on the roadside with her clothes burned off. saying: “Don’t mind me, there are others worse.”
