YOUR BANK BALANCE Rich km are a state of mind, not of bank bit lances. Out l man may liavo a lii}>; bank balance and lie a beggar: another an empty purse and lie a prince. The difference between® the rich and the poor is not to he of;balloted in money, but in mind. It is a difference between the poor rich and the rich poor, and that's the biggest difference in the world. The ! ‘ poor” rich count their riches in money alone, for which all too often they coin their very soul. The “rich” poor count their riches in treasures, too; but they are treasures of the heart and mind.
It, is a dangerous practice to judge any man by his hank balance. A growing hank balance does not always make its owner richer.
But the follow whose mental credit balance is growing becomes richer every hour, even though he may carry a very heavy overdraft at the bank.
Some day tlie “rich” poor and the “ poor ” rich will present their passbooks at the Great Bank, the only bank where the God of Self-interest has no status. Here in the great ledger we shall see many strange entries, for self-interest is set down as a liability.
Sympathy, fellowship, kindness, are entered as assets.
Thus. many a man who carried an overdraft in a hank of commerce ■will draw rich dividomts from the Bank <> Life: for sympathy, fellowship, and kindness are assets which endure, and which, capitalized, produce infinitely greater wealth than self-interest ever did or ever will.
