HURUNUI MYSTERY
MAN BADLY INJURED,

CHRISTCHURCH, April 26
W illiam Edward Butcher, aged 02. a resident of-Med bury, was found in a semi-conscious condition alongside the Huron,ui bridge, early this morning. The man was .suffering from severe injuries, and it is thought that he was knocked down by some vehicle. W. S. Fitzsimmons, who lives in a hut nearby, heard groans outside the door of his hut. and there found Butcher, who had apparently crawled to the spot. Medical’ attention was secured, and the man was removed to Waikari Hospital. Butcher’s chief injury was a deep wound on the face from the left eve to the ear, the eye being completely destroved.
Up till to-night he «till remained in a semi-conscious condition, unable to give -any account of how the accident occurred. ~
