FOUND INJURED

An unknown man was found semiconscious alongside the Hurunui bridge early this morning, severely injured, tie was hospitalled. He evidently had been knocked down by a vehicle.

THE WEIGHT ESTATE

CHRISTCHURCH, April 20.

By order of the Registrar of the ♦Supreme Court, Douglas George Wright of Windermere Winslow, a farmer, has been ordered to pay £B-1,012 to the Trustees of the estate of the late E. G. Wright, in respect to the wrongful purchase by Douglas Gooijge Wright of estates at Surrey Hills and Windermere.

Douglas George Wright moved in the Supreme Court to-day to have this order varied, but Justice Adams dismissed the motion, the whole ■ proceedings taking less than ten minutes.

LORD JELLICOE’S TIM BI TE

WELLINGTON, April 27

The Unturned Soldiers’ Association has received the following cable from Lord .Jellicon: —

“I wish on this anniversary of the historic 'landing in 'which New Zealanders played such a gallant part to express oir >ohalf of ' their comTacles at Home, t/ieir uudiminished admiration, and their sympathy with the dependents of those who made the great sacrifice. I am. laying, a wreath on the Cenotaph .to-day in the name of the ex-service men of the Empire.”

WELLINGTON, April-20.

A national ballot, under the preferential system, has been conducted by the Amalgamated Society of Bailway Servants for the election of President to hold office during the next two years. The candidates were Messrs J. Churchhouse (retiring president). Carterton ; M. Connolly (former president) of Dunedjn.; ,E. J. Dash (Tirnaru), J. Elliott (Newmarket), A. .J. Morison (Hillside), and S. Schofield (Christchurch).

On the fifth count, Messrs Churchhouse and Connelly remained in the ballot, and Mr Churchhouse was elected by a majority of 653 votes.
