Tlio Council oil' the above Society met at 7.150 o’clock. Present: Dr Teichelmanu (President) in the chair. Messrs A. X. linker, Godfrey. Appleton. Jlor emit, Lloyd, Urnddon. Perry, Stuart. Wells, Armstrong, Howe, Paterson, and Evans.

The Chairman explained the meeting hud been caked for special business reerred to tbe Council by annua’ meeting, in connection with a permanent curator, the building of a residence -t tbe hatchery, and the ranger’s apointment.

A general discussion ensued at length regarding the appointment of a curator. The question of expense in relation to the permanency of the income was the main consideration. Mr Paterson moved and Mr Braddon seconded a motion that a permanent curator he appointed at £5 per week, and a residence he erected at the hatchery at a cost not exceeding -oUl).

Vr Baker moved as an amendment that tlm motion he contingent on the Grey Society contributing half the cost including the building. Ml* Godfrey seconded the amendment which was put to the meeting and lost. The motion whs then put and lost by 8 votes to o.

Messrs Armstrong, Brnddon, Lloyd and Kelly were appointed a Hatchery Committee, and asked to report at next meeting as to arrangements for the hatching season on lines somewhat similar to last season.

On the motion of Mr Wells seconded by Mr Godfrey, it was resolved to continue the arrangements with Mr A. Cederman as ranger, subject to one month’s notice on either side to terminate the engagement.

.dr Howe moved that the £OOO set aside for opossum distribution he vested in Messrs Baker, Perry, and Evans as trustees to invest the amount for the benefit of the purpose proposed. Mr Stuart seconded. Carried. It was resolved to hold the monthly meeting of the Council on May 2nd. The meeting concluded at 8.50.
