At a public meeting organised under the auspices of flic .Motor Builders Association to-night, a- resolution was carried urging the Government to take immediate artian to stop the wholesale importation into the country ol American cars and motor bodies, whereby, or in consequence of which, millions o! money are sent every year out ol New Zealand to the United State's. The resolution urged that such importation impoverished the country, and increased unemployment.
AVAIHI COY’S DIVIDEND. AUCKLAND, April 23. Cabled advice from the Head Office of the Wailii Gold .Mining Coy., Ltd., lias been received by the local Director and Attorney, giving the results for the year ended December 31. Hio balance of the revenue account from 15107 was £32.190. The gross profits amounted to £110.824 : taxes to £2A.and depreciation to £7917: and an interim dividend .absorbed £49.590. T’he balanee remaining was £OB.IOO, out of which the Directors recommend a final payment of Is a snare free oT tax. leaving a balance of .018, 509 to be carried forward. The annual meeting will bo held in London on May 10. and the dividend will also bo payable on that date.
STOLEN CAR
found WRECKED
CI-HMSTCHUHOH;. April 23. A five-sea ter Essex motor ear. belonging to L.' Greenaway, barman, was stolen last night from outside the Lyttelton Club Hall. It was discovered this morning stuck in a fence on the roadside at Ranald. a total wreck, burned down to the steel framework.

Wanganui’s air sense was stimulated to-night, by a visit by Hon. Mr Wilford, .Minister of Defence. Ihe Minister promised every assistance possible. He said Cabinet would decide on the Estimates within a month. He appreciated the work the Aero (Tub had done. With regard to ('rounds lie would send his technical adviser to go over them next week.

SHOOTING ACCIDENT. HAMILTON, April 22
Cecil John Walsh, agetl 27. a school teacher of Morriusville, went rabbitshooting last evening and did not return. A search party set out and found his body early this morning caught in a barb wire leuce. llieie was a pea rifle in one hand, and a bullet bad passed through one eye. An inquest was opened and adjourned till n ednesday.

At a function at the Blind Institute, the Governor-General thanked the chairman of the trustees tor relerences made to himself and the Lady Alice Feruusson. In connection w’ith a iUmour with regard to the extension of his term lie said that he was afraid that by this time next year both ol them would lie away from New Zealand.
