THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES.
LOCAL AIR SERVICES. That two men should have breakfasted in Christchurch and on the same day dined in Auckland is the most impressive internal demonstration of what aviation means that New Zealand has seen. The country has been slow to develop flying, hut the headway made since Kingsiord-Smith and his, companions crossed the Tasman to the possibility of a great advance in the next few years. If one can fly so quickly and comfortably between Auckland and Christchurch in a light machine, it is tolerably certain that before long an attempt will he made to run ; regular passenger services between New Zealand cities. It now takes 36 hours , to reach Christchurch from Auckland, hut yesterday’s flight took only from ten to eleven hours, including stops. —.Auckland Caper.
