(United Frees Association— By EleetH* Telegraph—Copyright).
CAPETOWN, April 20.
Wind debarred Malcolm Campbell from making an attack on the world speed test tin’s morning. Campbell is jubilant over bis experience on a trial lie made on the Verneuk Pan. W bile he was officially timed to do *2lO miles per hour, Campbell for a few seconds recorded ‘215 miles an hour. He said: “ And this is the first tinm that 1 have been at the wheel since the “ Bluebird” left-Daytona. I am perfectly satisfied with the track. The car went beautifully. I pulled up at the eighth mile, because 1 was satis tied. I was nearly poisoned by the fumes from the spirit, while the dust was trying.” The spectators described the dust as being similar to a destroyer’s smoke screen. The car rolled down the track likr a projectile from a gun. Campbell is ’calmly confident. He announced at five p.m. that, in view ol the wind he would not attack the record to-da.v. Possibly Campbell will do so tomorrow.
The Dutch Church is protesting against his racing on Sunday.
