Sir Herbert Austin, clerk of Central Criminal Court, whose knowledge of criminal law is unrivalled, was lound shot dead in his office at Old Dailey with a revolver nearby. Ho occupied his accustomed seat in the court on Friday. He had spent forty years at Old Hailey in an atmosphere <vf drama and tragedy.
