Tin; opening senior game on Cass Square on Saturday afternoon was not one to attract a groat deal of attention, the play being of a very poor class even when the earliness of the season was taken into account. The ground was in line order and there was no wind. In the first half the lilaketown loam ran up 7 points, scoring a potted goal early in the spell and obtaining a try near the end of the spell. In the second half a passing run saw Fleming score; for Kiwis, near the corner. The visiting hacks were much faster than Kiwis, hut on both sides the play was very, ragged, the packing of the scrums being deplorable. Roth sides will have to make a great improvement to reach the standard of last year’s senior play. Mr Cutbush was referee. UNITKD IIKAT MAGPIES. The senior match at Greynmuth was between United and Magpies, the match being played before a good attendance of the public. United gamut a decisive victory, winning by 2o to nil, the score being made up of seven tries, two being converted. STARS AND BRUNNER. DRAW. At Dobson on Saturday the Stars and Brunner seniors played a drawn game, no score being registered. r I ho game was a good one, being stout'y eoutosted on either side and a draw was tne best result of the day’s play. THIRD GRADE.

Hokitika School had an easy win over Excelsior Thirds, the hitter being shorthanded. The score was JO to 10. A feature was the place kicking of Stapleton.
