Entries for the Kokatahi sports close on Wednesday next with J. Shivas or A. J. Shannon, joint secretaries, P.O. Kokatahi. This is probably the last meeting this year -in this part of the West Coast Centre. The programme is an attractive - one and the first prize in the Underhand Chop is £2O. The running includes a half mile and mile, this is the only club this year to cater, for the distance runners and they should be rewarded with a good entry.

An altercation between two local residents was observed in Revell Street last evening. It appears that the combatants were fighting for the last place in a oar going to the Kokatahi Sports Ball, next Tuesday evening. The Higli Master of tbe Black Hand, who, with his confederates, will provide the harmony on that evening, effected a' separation by informing the parties concerned that quite a large number of cars have been reserved for the trip. The residents of the far south are anxious to see an important loading scheme carried out whereby Okuru could be linked to Jackson Bay as a permanent port, and have been in touch with Mr O’Brien, M.P., on the matter. A deputation to the Government has been suggested, and it is probable it will be organised. Mr O’Brien has suggested that the local body and Progress League should be associated in the deputation to make it as influential as possible.
