heavy 'casualties

DELHI, April 18,
It is reported from Kabul that heavy fighting has taken place at Shaikhabad, forty miles from Kabul, between the force sof Bacchsakau, the rebel King, and the Wardki tribe, who are supporters of Amanullah. Heavy casualties have resulted, and the hospitals in Kabul are crowded with wounded.
The Ghiizais, who formerly were supporters of Amanullah, are now concentrating at Glianzi in support of Bacchsakau, provided that he retires in .favour of General Nadir Khan.
naval appointments
RUGBY, April 16
The Admiralty has announced that Vice-Admiral Sir Ernie Chatfield will to-morrow relieve Admiral Sir Hubert Brand as C'ommander-in-Chief of the Atlantic Fleet. Other appointments are •_.Rear-Admiral Colin MacLenn to relieve Rear-Admiral Tweedic as senior naval officer on the Yangtse, to date from August, and Rear-Admiral Dunbar Lee Smith to relieve Rear-Admiral Grace, as Rear-Admiral commanding submarines, to date from September.
