(Received this day at 12.25. p.m.) LONDON, April 16.
A week ago several cases of confluent small pox were disccovered in England and Scotland among passengers who came overland from Marseilles from the Bombay liner Tuscania, on which a case was diagnosed before she reached Marseilles. There was comment at t 1 ’ time that if more stringent measures had been taken at Marseilles the disease Mould not have gained a footing : n Britain.
Now there is a fierce outcry at the French announcement that Channel passengers will lie refused entry to France unless they produce a certificate off vaccination, within two months. It is pointed out it will kill tourist traffic, and prevent a majority going to any part of the continent. Representations to Paris for niodifl cations have been fruitless. Passengers on liners from Australia calling at Toulon and Marseilles will lie affected. The first will lie those on the Ormonde.
