DUNEDIN ARCADE
SUPREME COURT ACTION
DUNEDIN, April 15
The Supreme Court was occupied today in hearing a claim by the Attor-noy-doneral, acting for the Mayor, councillors and citizens of Dunedin, against the Arcade Company.
During the hearing a great deal of evidence regarding the formation ol the company and its rights in the sixties was given, in an effort to discover whether the passageway through the Arcade was considered to have been private or public property. r l he present case is a friendly one. and defendants committed a technical breach by thus obstructing the passageway to cnaUe tile action to be brought. r ! he citizens of Dunedin have generally thought the passageway was public property. but tin* Arcade Comnan.v always maintained otherwise, and that the
citv never obtained any right io it either legally or by usage. 1 lie east will be continued to-morrow.
