SALVATION ARMY’S FUTURE
WILL CONTINUE TO BE INTERNATIONAL.
WELLINGTON, April 15
Presiding at the Salvation Army function yesterday, at which Commissioner Hay spoUe on the future ol the Army, .Sir John Findlay stated that Commissioner Hay had declined nomination for the Generalship and had also declined an appointment as Chief of Staff, giving as his reason that he had heon so long among those whose paths lay under the Southern Cross Jthat he pielien'ed to remain with them.
Speaking of the retirement of General Era in well Booth, Commissioner Hay said that everything in connection with the matter had keen diligently and patiently sought out. There had been no axes to grind. Soon there would he an Act of Parliament which would make everything unquestionably safe for the whole of the future. The Army would continue to he international and there was no sign of other than absolute union of the whole Army 'throughout the world. The Army was going to he a praying Army, and was going to be governed well. In future there would he some tilings different from those of the past. In England, for instance, instead of one trustee, there would he three, and possibly. live. There would be plenty of representation in future, and a chance for all who were fit. in future there would be evidence of more individual training and one would find that efficiency would bring up the capable people.
