HOKITIKA HARBOUR BOARD

MONDAY, APRIL 15th'. The Board met at 4 p.m. Present: Messrs G. A. Wood (Chairman), E. W. ITeeiian, AI. Houston, W. Ziegler, and AV. E. Richards. The minutes were confirmed and correspondence outward approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From Government Department asking for returns. —Received j already supplied. From Murine Department, forwarding amended election regulations.— Received. From Marino Department in reference to lamp lenses.— Received. It was stated that four lamps from the Zingara were under offer. Left to the Chairman to deal with. From Ala line Department, AVellington, approving o'f plans for repair ol South Wall.—Received. From Harbours Association in reference to last session’s legislation affecting Harbour Boards. —Received. From Harbour Master reporting there was a good bar, running straight to sea with an average depth during the last month of 12 Received. The Secretary reported on the receipt of tenders for South AA all repairs, tlie lowest being that of J. Johnstone, which was provisionally accepted at £124. subject to some suggested alterations. It was also reported that there had been some further damage to the wall. It was decided in view of the alterations in the position to apply to the Marine Department asking that the Resident Engineer again visit and report, subject to a visit of the Board bearing out the statements made. It was also stated that tlie present jxisition of the wrecked Zingara was causing a scour against the South Wall. The offer of .1. Johnstone for reconditioning bolts and stays was also deferred. It was also resolved to notify the owners of tho Zingara that tlie vessel was causing a scour which was further endangering the wall and there was also a further danger of swinging on to the wall. Two weeks was allowed for the removal of the ' essol. In connection with tin* rubbish dump used by the Borough causing

ail offensive nuisance it was resolved to close the dump and that a fresh dump he arranged alongside the signal station. Accounts amounting to £358 3s lid were passed for payment. including £292 10s repayment of loan. The Board rose at 5.15 p.m.
