GENE STB ATTON-PORTKB ’S

GREATEST STORY TO-NIGHT

The (greatest- novel ever written of Southern California, with the gorgeous backgrounds of mountains and ocean, lias been transposed to the. screen in “ The Keeper of the Bees,” 'Clone Stratton-porter’s most recent work which appeared serially in McCall’s Magazine. Doubleday, Page and Co. have just put the book on the market, and the publishers estimate that more than ten million persons have already found the story as fascinating as only a novel by the late Mrs Porter could be. In addition to its tremendous popularity, “ The Keeper of the Bees,” has as one of its stars an eleven-year-old girl who has never before been seen in pictures, and who probably never will be again, despite the fact that she is hound to make a tremendous hit. Gene Stratton Monroe, grand-daughter of the noted novelist, enacts, the .part of “ Little Scout ” ' the role which inspired her celebrated grandmother to write the story originally. So when she “steals” the picture from more experienced members of a fine. cast. it. is only proper; 'for “The Keeper of the Bees” is her property anyway! The production, which has been ably directed for F. 8.0. by J. Leo' Meehan, ; who will be remembered for his fine work in transplanting “The Girl of the Llmr.erlost ” to the screen, will be seen at the Princess Theatre to-night. A fine supporting series will also be shown, including a topical, scenic and comedy.
