WESTLAND RACING CLUB

I he Committee of (lie above Club met at the rooms. Hamilton Street last evening at 8.30 o’eloek. Present: Messrs .McGregor (voted to the chain. Neville. Adamson. Whiley. Yarrall. Sellers, llimstou. Mclntosh, Evans. Peake, Breeze, Jones. Lynn and McIntosh Jnr. An apology was made lor the absence of Mr \Y. 10. Williams (President). * •-

The Treasurer submitted a report on idle receipts and expenses of the race meeting on the -111 1 . inst. The receipts were £1489 7s 3d and the expenses estimated at £13,02 Is Dd, leaving a credit balance ol £lO7 2s Oil, which was considered highly satisfactory. The taxation on the meeting was £175 14s 3d. I lie report was received and adopted, and thanks expressed to all who had assisted.

It was resolved to vot<'> £5 5s to the Municipal Baud for assisting at the meeting.

A copy of the Stipendiary Stewards' report on the meeting was received. !’hc officer reviewed the course and appointments satisfactorily, and also commented on the conduct of the meeting. which was completed tip to time and well conducted.— Deceived.

The Racecourse Inspector reported on a case, and it was decided to write stating further action was not considered neeessarv.

Mr Evans complimented the Patrol .stewards on the very satisfactory manner in which their duties were dix^

charged. Me thanked also the Gate Steward for his valuable help, and the Bird Cage Steward for useful assistance given at all meetings. These remarks were endorsed by the Committee.

'flip Secretary referred to the proposal change in the start for the six luroiigs. and said Mr .1. C. Mnefnrlano had offered to lay off the extension of the course. The Secretary also thought that, something might ho done to reduce the height of the hill at the hack cutting. and this might he done cheaply by the use of a tractor and plough t.<> loosen the ground. It was resolved to go into these matters at a meeting on the course over the week-end.

Details in the conduct of the meet - ing were discussed, and it was resolved to make, more secure provision for the officials on the stand in future. An* Hugh Steel was elected a member of the Club.

Air R. Adamson was welcomed by the Chairman on his revisit, to the Cluh, and good wishes expressed lor his future. '
